DIY painted St. Louis Cardinals high heels

As a huge sports fan, I am always looking for cute, creative ways of showing support for my favorite teams. This go-round, I was wanting to spice up some shoes I had bought on sale and what better way to fix up red high heels than by decking them out St. Louis Cardinals style. People are all the time asking where I got them. The response "Payless for $9.99" usually doesn't cut it. I spent one Tuesday night after work and just used craft supplies I already had at home and ended up with a new favorite pair of shoes to show support for my favorite baseball team!
What you need:
Shoes (These were made from a suede material and held the paint very nicely)
Paint (I used regular acrylic craft paint that cost around $.50 a bottle)
Paint brushes
Printed design/logo that you want on the shoes
Glitter (optional, for you of course, glitter is never optional in my book)
First, cut out the designs that you printed to transfer onto the shoes, leaving a little boarder so that the tape doesn't cover part of your design. Once you have them placed where you want, tape them down to make sure they don't move.

Once you have your design taped down, take your sharpie and trace the outside. You may have to do it a couple times to make sure it is bleeding through to the surface of the shoes.

After you have traced all your designs thoroughly, remove the paper and tape. What you should see underneath is a light, but surprisingly easy to see outline of designs you traced.
Unless you ended up with super dark trace marks the first time, you will most likely want make your lines darker by just using your sharpie directly on the shoes.
From there, it's just like a coloring book. Paint the designs however you want. If you want to add glitter to any part, like I did around the platforms, just sprinkle it on while the paint is wet and it will adhere to the shoes like glue.

And there you have it, easy, one-of-a-kind high heels made from
craft supplies you probably already have at home!

First Post of 2013: The Great Outdoors

It's been far too long since I have posted any pictures. Needless to say, I have yet again been neglecting my poor camera due to everything else in my life. Hopefully this terrible streak is broken now that I have gotten it back out of the bag and got a few good pictures in the books. For the first post of 2013 (sadly to say it's halfway through March when that happens) I decided to go with strictly the outdoors-y theme I have been working on the past few weeks. Hope you enjoy!!
Lake Ouachita at Brady Mountain

This bird freaks me out a little.

These are a couple of the ducks near our houseboat at Echo Canyon on Lake Ouachita. They had sooo many babies with them, but they kept going underwater, Hopefully I'll catch a few good one of them soon.

This was by far the most gorgeous sunset I've seen in a long time! I took this one at Tar Camp Park on the Arkansas River in Redfield with one of my very dear friends. I felt so bad for making him wait around and watch while I just took pictures, but he was such a great sport about it. I would definitely say it's one of those days I'd love to live a thousand times over! To tell you what a sweetheart he is, we were at his house eating supper one night and he saw a strange looking moon coming up out the window and insisted that we drive down to the river so I could take pictures; Of course we had to rush back in time for Duck Dynasty. But I thought it was sooo sweet!

The big Christmas storm was good for something I guess.

This picture took forever to get! All you could actually seen in the sky was the part that's glowing, like a fingernail, but with the combination of a tripod and self-timer, I finally got this one.

Random Summer Shots

It's been so long since I've been able to post! Summer has been busy busy busy! Unfortunately, I haven't been carrying my camera with me as much as I'd like so I've just picked a few of the random pictures I've been able to get thus far.
My gorgeous sister Brandy on Shaw Bridge
This is one of my favorites of Brandy looking out the church window at the Wye Mountain Daffodil Festival!
I kinda like how this one turned out. I was testing some new lighting techniques I saw online using a flashlight to basically paint the light where ever you wanted it on the subject.
Here's another one I tried using bottles that I borrowed. This one is a little darker than I had hoped, but it turned out kinda cool
I love the colors in this! This is just a close up of some flowers we bought from Wal-Mart.
I have soooooo many pictures from this day and I'm sure I'll get around to posting them soon, but this is just one of Cody doing his usual crazy stuff at one of the blue holes. I absolutely adore him!
These next two are from a GORGEOUS sunset I happened to see when I was driving to my friends house.

And last, but most certainly not least, my favorite from the whole summer! Cody decided to jump off the biggest cliff he could find! Maybe by the end of the summer, I'll be doing that.... NOT! :)
